CAMP CASPAR GREGORY ASSOCIATION ANNUAL MEETING SUNDAY DECEMBER 3RD AT 2PM @ POPLAR RIDGE QUAKER FRIENDS MEETING HOUSE

CAMP GREGORY SEEKS CAMP DIRECTOR – Position open immediately

Camp Caspar Gregory, a non-profit camp operating in Aurora NY since 1942, seeks a Camp Director part time immediately, to become full-time for 4 months from May through August 2018. The position offers flexible hours and start date, with the goal of attracting a dedicated local professional with camp leadership, teaching, or other relevant experience. The position will be supported by an active Camping Committee of community volunteers and Board members, and will be charged with responsibility for recruitment, training, and supervision of all camp staff.

Camp Gregory offers both overnight (Monday-Friday) and day camping programs, and enrolls approximately 35-50 campers per week over a 4 to 5 week period in July and August. The camp sits on 35 beautiful acres of wooded shoreline of Cayuga Lake, with a well appointed waterfront, an archery field, a new infirmary, central lodge, outlying cabins, and recently renovated kitchen.

In addition to staffing the camp, the role of the Camp Director comprises marketing to achieve the desired camp attendance, program development and execution, compliance with all ACA requirements, oversight of daily operations during the camping season (including waterfront, infirmary, and food service), and coordination with Camping Committee and Board members to fully understand and utilize available resources.

The staffing plan for 2018 will be shaped in part by the vision of the Camp Director and Committee as well as in part by budgetary constraints and personnel availability. Camp Gregory seeks a professional with the ambition and vision to take our camp to a new level. This could mean creating staff continuity through an effective CIT program, developing a greater focus on water sports and recreation, or otherwise enriching the summer learning and recreational experience for our diverse group of campers. This is a growth opportunity for the right person to fill this new leadership model. The part-time winter/spring work schedule can be adapted to meet the needs of the right candidate. Summer on-site residency during the camping season is expected but may be negotiable depending on the staffing plan achieved.
